2.  States/UTs with largest percentage of forest cover w.r.t. their geographical area in decreasing order are Mizoram (88.93%), Lakshadweep (84.56%), Andaman & Nicobar Islands (81.84%), Arunachal Pradesh (80.30%), Nagaland (78.21%), Meghalaya (76.76%), Manipur (76.11%) and Tripura (74.49%).

4.  Top 5 States with largest forest cover in terms of area in decreasing order are Madhya Pradesh (77462 sq km), Arunachal Pradesh (67248 sq km), Chhattisgarh (55586 sq km), Maharashtra (50628 sq km) and Odisha (50354 sq km).

5.  Madhya Pradesh has the largest area under forest cover (154497 sq km) but the % of forest area with respect to total area is about 34.84%. On the other hand forest area of Mizoram is only 15935 sq km, but the % of forest area with respect to total area is about 75.59%.

A total of 15 States/UTs have above 33% of the geographical area under forest cover.
