Ans     Cactus survive in a desert due to following adaptations:

            1) The leaves in cactus are in the shape of spines which helps in reducing loss of water from them                         through transpiration.

            2) Its stem is covered with a thick waxy layer, which helps to retain water.

            3) Its roots go very deep into the soil for absorbing water.

Ans     The grassland is a place where very few trees or places are available for an animal to hide. This helps                    predators such as lion, tiger, etc. to locate their prey in the grass easily. Hence the animals like deer etc.                are vulnerable to predators in grasslands and can only survive and escape if they run very fast.
